Dr. Chan and his team were awarded the British Society for Rheumatology (BSR) Emerging Best Practice Award 2016. This is the setting up of the new Integrated Pain Assessment and Spinal Service (IPASS) Clinic. This new clinics will see and treat patient with musculoskeletal and chronic pain with all the specialist and therapists present in the clinic. This is joint collaboration between the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust, Berkshire Healthcare Foundation Trust and Berkshire West Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).

Dr. Chan attended the American College of Rheumatology Scientific Congress in November 2015. This was held in San Francisco, CA, USA. The premier conference brought together 17,000 delegates from across the world to discuss subjects in rheumatology. World experts gathered together to exchange knowledge and information. There was also patient involvement in the discussions. This meeting brings out the latest advances in arthritis and rheumatology.
